Step-by-Step General Guide to Study Abroad

Step 1: Research

Think about which country you want to study, city that suits your lifestyle and budget, what you’d like to study, the college/university you like to attend and outline reasons for this.

Compile a watch list with the subject or areas that interest you the most. You can look at some course descriptions, university reviews and their locations. Also look at the tuition fee and plan according to your affordability. After this narrow your selection

Step 2: Speak to an Atlas counsellor

When you’re ready, make an appointment with our counsellor or visit our office between 10.30am to 5.30pm (Mon to Fri). Our counsellors are well experienced, certified and have first-hand information on the latest trends and updates in International education.

This is the starting point to your starting point. Our experienced counsellors @ Atlas will guide you with various study options based on your past qualifications, your interest, work experience, course eligibility and budgets. Our counsellors will guide and help you take the right decision.

If you have not taken the mandatory English test such as TOEFL (iBT), IELTS or PTE or other tests like SAT/GRE or GMAT, we will help you to register for the test and book the nearest available date. We further explain details of entire expenses, university details, culture, lifestyle, visa requirements, post study work options etc., and each student will be assessed for the eligibility of the student visa.

Step 3: Make your application

After you’ve chosen your course and university, college or school, it’s time to apply for admission. We apply for admission for the selected course with the University / Institute of your choice represented by us. Successful applications will received the Letter of Offer from the institute via Atlas Consultants. This offer can be conditional or unconditional. The current processing / turnaround time for getting an offer letter may be between 2 to 8 weeks.

Step 4: Accept your offer

If your application is successful, you’ll receive a letter of offer and an acceptance form. Student now is required to pay the First semester tuition fee (if you have any unconditional offer) or Deposit (if you have a conditional offer pending final results) and the compulsory health cover by telegraphic transfer or by dollar bank draft.

Atlas now will forward the draft / confirmation of TT along with acceptance of offer and request for receipt or confirmation of enrolment from the institution.

Note: Most institutes ask for extra documents such as financial statements, sponsor details and income certificates. The institute after verification of all details and after being satisfied they authorize the receipt (also known as CAS (UK), I-20 (USA), CoE(Australia)or unconditional offer) which not only confirms your admission, but is also a receipt for fee paid. This document is an essential for lodgement of student visa. This procedure will take around 10-15 days

Step 5: Medical Examination

Before you lodge your visa (for countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada or UK), you need to undergo a medical examination by a panel doctor approved by the respective high commissions. Our counsellors will give you a list of panel doctors in your city or nearest city and guide you in this.

Step 6: Apply for a student visa

The most important task now is to apply for your student visa. Every country has its own set of formalities to fulfil and procedures may differ, Our counsellors will guide you through the visa application process and help prepare the documents needed for your submission.

We may require many supporting and additional documents. We will verify the documents and once it is all good we will lodge the visa application. The processing time of the student visa application can vary anytime between 4 to 12 weeks. We make sure you are well positioned to navigate this process with the authorised migration departments.

Step 7: Visa Grant

Congratulations! Finally it's time to fly! Now our counsellors will help you prepare for departure abroad. At our pre-departure briefing, you will receive valuable information about living in abroad, life as a student at your institution, tips on adapting to the culture etc. We also put you in touch with other students, including alumni, current students and future classmates. We also help you on matters such as accommodation, foreign exchange, health and travel insurance, SIM cards and opening a bank account etc . All students will be oriented with detailed aspects of life and studies abroad.
