Living Expenses in Australia

Living costs include accommodation, food and bills, transport, and clothing as necessary, and will vary according to your circumstances, such as the type of accommodation you choose, its location, the number of people you live with, and your lifestyle.

The Department of Home Affairs has financial requirements you must meet in order to receive a student visa for Australia. As of October 2023 the 12-month living costs are:

  • For students or guardians - AUD $ 24,505 per annum
  • For partners coming with you - AUD $ 8,574 per annum
  • For a child coming with you - AUD $ 3,670 per annum
